I believe the $4 in that listing was the shipping. I note on eBay that with the barrel key, and in a bit better shape these do sell for $49-79 (some folks ask more and they don't seem to sell), but none i looked at had anything specific about the age.

I found a Santa Fe Keen Kutter Lock (my only banner find) that if I remember correctly a member that goes by PBK ID’ed for me. He would quickly ID locks and other stuff that was posted. I haven’t seen him post lately, he is IMO a very knowledgeable lock aficionado, and maybe he can chime in.

Here is some date info, I don't know how valid it is but here it is anyway:Antique Yale Cast Brass Padlock Without Ket | eBay

This is an antique YALE & TOWNE MFG. CO. cast brass padlock manufactured in Stamford Conn. around the late 1800's and early 1900's. It has the # 21 on the top. I have not tried to clean the padlock. It is very tight with no movement at all in the seams. It measures approximately 3" high and 2 1/8" wide.

Pretty sure the patent was 1890's. I believe they went all the way into the twenties.

You're correct about PBK ant, he knew about and could identify many items, not just locks. We miss him!
