Help! Minelab Sov Elite Digital Id malfunctioning, I think

So I go to turn on my Minelab and recalibtrate it on a quarter and the Digital ID meter shows "-1" and wont bounce around from target to target. Theres a knob on the back you use to fine tune the blasted thing, but it wont do anything now. If I turn it off and on again it will work fine for a sec or 2 and then go back to neg 1.
What the hell? Any Ideas? I cleaned and checked all the wires, dry lubed the sockets and looked for nicks and damage in the cables....so what now?

Do you have the Sov set to all metal?

I think Ive tried all settings...I flipped every switch trying to get it to respond or change...Whats your guess?

Mine screwed up too and I had them fix it when I sent in the 'tector for a different repair. It worked for awhile but quit again so I ended up just taking it off.
