Hello,
I encountered these spectacular mounds- what looks like packed sand and mud on a hillside at elevation 5,435 feet in Washington State. I'm curious if anyone might be able to tell me what they think might have caused them and if they have a proper term?

Much thanks! IMG_7939.webpIMG_7940.webp

Is there more of the mountain above them? Is the land bare uphill of these? Could it be from a landslide? steve

My guess is Decomposed Granite.
Topsoil and nutrients can't be absorbed, so nothing grows.
