Help on a rock I dug up

Hey All,

Dug up this rock by random chance while detecting today. Was pretty surprised as I've never found any cool rocks before. I think it's some sort of agate and judging by its proximity to the house (~4 feet) and lack of other rocks nearby, someone dropped it there at some point, maybe a kid or something. Oddly I found a marble in the same hole, but I'm making a separate post for that.

Any ideas? In person I swear that outer layer looks just like a nasty scab.
