I'm with RJc on this one. Not that old. Phillips screws may have been invented in 1935, but were not that common till probably the 60's or 70's. Factories would have used them earlier, but if you think it is carved and not molded, home work shops didn't really use them for another 40 yrs. I began cabinet making and construction in the 70's and straight slot screws were most common. I hated them. Torx head screws were invented in 1967 and are just now becoming popular. If you showed me something made with them, I wouldn't guess it was 50 yrs old, Id say it was made in the last couple yrs. So, since most of us here were born before the 70's, ITS NOT THAT OLD. As far as what its made of, you tell us, your holding it!
