True, but the biggest difference is that the DFX (both models, DFX Spectrum and DFX 300) uses two frequencies (3kHz and 15kHz) simultaneously to search with and the Spectrum XLT uses a single adjustable one, from about 6.0kHz minimum to about 7.2kHz maximum with the ideal setting of 6.5kHz being the preset.
One of the DFX's premier features is the "Best Data" and "Correlate" feature, basically they compare the result of the two frequencies to see what the best guess is as to the target's conductivity.
An interesting thing to point out is that both Fisher and White's pay Minelab a licensing fee to use the "multi-frequency" feature.
