help used golden

Hi everyone'
I have had a classic id for about 6 years and is the only md i have ever used.
I am looking to buy a silver umax new - but came across a used golden at a local
dealer - who use to carry tesoro line but now dosent.
I have not seen this unit and only talked to this dealer over the phone.
He tried to push a new ace 250 on me which kind of turned me off.
He offered the used golden umax to me for 250.00 if i picked it up.This seems like a good price as long as its in good shape and works.(I have not seen it yet)
Question? Is a golden the same as a silver with a threshold nob and a ajustable notch and
four tones. Will I get the same results with the golden with a 10x12 coil as with the silver with same coil.
I live in florida and the soil is mild...
I would appreciate any opinions on this matter.

I dont know how you define "better," but the Golden is a great instrument. I have used one for years.

$250 in working condition and in any sort of decent physical shape is a good price. I've paid more to get one, I'll tell you that. Remember no matter whats wrong with it, aside from obvious abuse or modification, Tesoro will see that it is made right.... normally for free.

Pretty much, yes.
