I have found a lot of buckles but not one like this. Is this some type of military buckle like for a sword or bayonet? It's 2 inches long and 1 and 3 eights wide and no manufacturer's mark. Thanks for any help.
Obviously designed for a specific purpose, it's not decorative, so it's likely to be a utilitarian function.
Looks to be a fairly heavy casting and with the loop attachment, maybe saddle tack or a knapsack related function.
Date wise, I'm thinking early 20thc.
