From a new cellar hole that I’m not sure the age of. Could be 1700’s or 1800’s. Has a “B” And other letters i can’t make out yet.

Ok sweet. I know very little about these. Anyway to tell the approximate age? Or anything more about it. I cleaned it up and there are more letters than I thought.

It also could be a gas meter seal or electric seal.

Thanks Gene Mean for the initial ID
Probably predates either if those utilities.
But who knows 🤔
Nice recovery 👍
Yes for sure.

So i didnt have any luck with any more info on this here. But there is a great facebook group where that is all they do, is bale/bag seal ID and history. It took a few days after posting but a member absolutely nailed it and im grateful.
From Guy who ID'ed it.
"This is a Russian customs seal. Each year a different letter or symbol was used. For 1807 the Cyrillic letter "B" was used. And it is also dated that year with 1807 stamped into it."

So its a Russian Customs seal from 1807. It made quite a journey to end up in the woods of Maine. Also did you know 1807 was the first year that diplomatic relations between Russia and the Unite States were officially established.
