Waterbury made some of the Philly Police buttons. The only ones I could find were 1940's but they were more of a flat button top. Your find looks like more of a domed top piece.

Actually, found the Waterbury that matches yours. They don't mention a date for the design though.

Thanks, It is a domed button. I found some matches. I just can't find a date to the match. I also can't make out the company on the back of the button. It could be Waterbury?

Yeah, can't be sure. The website doesn't offer a reverse image to see a back mark. Waterbury offered many different back marks. Sweet button by the way!

I cleaned up the back of the button better and I can read N Shellenburg & CO . PHILA. on back of button. I think it might date from the late 1800's to the early 1900's. The button I have is about 1/2 " diameter.

N. Snellenburg Co. started a tailoring business in Philly in 1868 and continued to at least 1929. He was known to have made buttons for the Phllly PD. Looking at similar styles from the Waterbury Companies, I'd say this one was 1870 to about 1895.
