Finally, fall season is here. My permissions are currently clearing the fields for me 😁 Found this unknown solid copper/iron object at a early 1830s cabin site. The end wedge side is solid copper and about 2.5” in length. The coin was the find of the day, 1862 IHP Fatty. Thanks ahead of time!!

that would be the tip of an old soldering iron I believe

I agree with Tpmetal, here's a photo of one along with the typical "blow torch" used to heat it and the solder/lead, mostly used in plumbing to seal cast iron pipes.
