Help with Id - coin like object

Any help identifying this object would be appreciated. It was given to me in a tin of old coins when I was a child. I have no idea where it came from. It appears to be brass, with an image of insect? and foliage on one side only. There appear to be marks on rear where the design has been stamped through. About 15mm Dia. I dont think it is a coin, there is no writing but it is worn like a coin.
