Any time I see what appears to be a round rock, I usually turn it over to see if it really is round. And it never is. Unless it's not a rock, but something man-made.

Well, this turned out to be round, and about the diameter of a nickel, but seems man-made. Question is by who.

Am new here, and I keep finding myself posting questions about things in one location, then finding I should have posted elsewhere. Already posted this over on "what is it?" but maybe this would be a better place.

Thanx,

looks like a common china marble...is there any painted decorations left on it??

Wouldn't china be somewhat shiny, as opposed to this flat finish? I thought it more of a porcelin or even clay.
No evidence of any paint.

Thanx, for your interest/help.

the finish prob chipped off from play or the elements...or never made it thru the process..

This looks to be a "pioneer marble" or some folks call them "game pieces" I have a couple in my collection that I have found in camps or villages. Was told by folks at Ohio State that looked them over, almost always found on a know village.
