Help with identification

Found this a few weeks ago in south Louisiana at a pre-civil war site. Not sure if it's that old. Any idea?

Nice find.. I would say not C W era looks to be made of zinc or pot metal..possibly a saddle decoration or collar tip ..

That is from a Hope Saddle. They had them on the saddle and on the corners of the saddle blankets. How do I know? See my post from a couple years ago.
