✅ SOLVED Help with odd pick axe

This is the oddest looking "pick axe" I have ever seen. There is a stamp on it that looks like O.L.S. - the handle is bolted into a strap arrangement and the main pick is bolted on. The old fellow that owned it was a bricklayer/mason - perhaps it was something he used. If you have any ideas about the company stamp or the purpose of the tool I would appreciate hearing it. The flat blade is 14" long with a beveled edge and 3" wide at the widest end. The green paint appears to be original.

I feel that it may be an adze for wood working and not an axe.

Good one, ticndig. Perhaps the old gentleman was Norwegian ? Had some trouble searching it online. "Plantehakke " helped a little, but it's all in Norwegian.

Good Id. It looks similar to what is called a "hoedad" in the U.S.A. Which is used for planting trees.

My friend was a tree planter back in the 90's , he used a hoe dad , it looked just like that .
