Help with old metal button

Our town dates back to the 1880's. I found these four buttons with my old 1266x within a couple inches of each other downtown in a lot that had just had pavement removed for a renovation. Not a button person personally, can some offer suggestions as to how I might find out more about these buttons? I'm guessing they are copper.
