Hello again,
I am in serious need of some help identifying this little cuff button which has been converted into a stickpin. I found it at a yard sale this morning along with some jewelry. I have pretty much exhausted all my resources, but come up empty handed. I'm sure someone with more resources and knowledge than I will be able to solve this mystery though, and I very much look forward to hearing from you! Thanks.

Good chance it's not a SC button. There are several PMA's, none of which I can find related to SC.

Thanks...I just assumed S.C. because of the Palmetto tree and the similarity to other S.C. buttons

Nice button & nice find, congrats

I've never seen the palmetto design like that on anything other than a south carolina button of some type. Possibly palmetto medical or military academy?

the back mark is from the 1850 to 60s

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Okay, I think I found it. I believe it's from a South Carolina military institute called the "Porter Military Academy" which was located in Charleston.

THANK YOU! I think that would date it past the Civil War, but it's still cool! Great research!
