I was detecting an area around Charleston and found a small lead piece, that appears to be 2 peices fused together. On one side is the Star of Davis on the otherside is 565. The picture of poor quality was trying to show the gap between the two pieces. Does any have any idea of what this is, or how old it actually is?

very interesting piece!
The 6 point star is used all over the place (besides the star of david) and can be traced back at least to the Byzantine empire and earlier. Though I don't think this is that at all. Fuzed together? is the piece between the star the object that is fuzing them together? (sort of like a rivet?). Very interesting piece.

Looks like a lead seal— probably a boxcar seal.

I dont know much about lead seals but your 2 piece seal looks like it may be of this type. Pic is of a seal before being attached.
