That's a depiction of Ján Samuel Francisci-Rimavský, as a captain during the Slovak Uprising of 1848.
The left side text is his name - followed by Hnúšťa - a town in southern Slovakia.
The text to the right reads 'Vodca Dobrovoľnícke' - meaning "leader of volunteers".
Dude's biggest contribution was as a writer, and was best known for his translations of Shakespearean literature.
