Help with vintage detector!

I've acquired a vintage bounty hunter 1 detector and I can't get it to turn on or make noise. New batteries in the pack. Took it apart and all the wires seem to have good connection and solder still. Would love to get it working again, it's in great shape! Any ideas or advise??
