Found this piece of brass at the old 1700s site.it is about 1"x7/8",two sides look as if it was broken off of something,
maybe part of a gun? same site i found spanish military buttons.

Being broken, it is nearly impossible to find out what it is, unless it has any markings on it.

The best thing to do is go back to the area and find more pieces.
