I got a Garrett Ace150 detector for Christmas and in going through various forums, etc, don't see much information on them.
I'm just a beginner and don't know crap from granola so have a few questions before I (snicker) go forth to find my fortune in gold and other treasures to augment my pension (I'm retired).
My first question is, will this unit find coins and jewellry that might be lost on sandy beaches?
.
Second, I live not too far from what appears to be a glory hole in the river and it is only under about 1-2 inches of water in late summer. Would this unit pick out any gold that might be sitting in the hole within 4 or 5" under the sand?
Finally, i was wondering if it is best to go to beaches, etc., that are popular, during the early morning or late evening to check things out. It would appear that there is no one else, that I've been able to see, working this area with detectors so it would appear to be fairly virgin territory.
I'm looking forward to the snow leaving so I can get going so will be practicing I get the snow cleared off a patch of property.
Thanks for any and all information, tips, tricks, etc., you can give me. Hope to one day be able to help some other newbie to the sport, but right now all I have is questions.
