Have you taken a magnet to it to determine if it is steel? Do that first, then most likely it is steel. Sometimes coins are plated and affixed to jewelry,:earrings necklaces, money clips, so on.
This could be the case. I have a money clip with a gold plated indian head cent. If you are more curious and have money to spare, send it to a coin grader, so if it is authentic they will slab it for you.
Good luck

Hello,

I was looking at my grandfathers old wheat pennies and came across a silver one. It's a 1955 .i couldn't find anything about it online and found this app for my iphone. Any help would be great.

Thanks
Eric

It is plated and would be considered post-Mint Damage (PMD). It is a novelty, but being that it is your grandfatther's, then it is priceless.

Yes it is! Thank you both for help. On another note this app is pretty cool. Allot of people find some cool things.
