ok, I got off early today and decided to metal detect up near the area where we play paint ball with no luck, I found this area off in the brush that had these bottles every where, most were broken but these are the ones I could carry. its in a 30 square yard area and it looks like some one was back there digging a long time ago and dug 2 holes about 3 feet deep, there are shells and ash everywhere, can any one tell me if these bottles are worth collecting and digging up? These were near the holes where people were digging and they left them behind.

They look interesting but the file size is kind of small for close examination. They could use a wash too, (but don't wash off any labels). Close up views of each bottle, (top, bottom and with info about any seams and embossing), would help. I posted several links to the another post that might help here:

Nice looking collection though.

I'm not going to even try to fix that link. The picture is a good size, but with dialup, a picture of over 700 kb is a pain to load.

I'm no pro when it comes to bottles, but from what I've seen in the past couple of days, I'd say you had a few there that were worth some cash. Not sure about the green insulator, but you could check on eBay for that. If you sort those out and clean them up, then note all the markings on them, it would be alot easier for you to figure out whats what.

They look like fairly common bottles, not woth much at all. But the milk bottle is interesting. If the top wasn't broke off it would probably be the more valuable one. And don't forget. If the dump was used for a long time, the deeper you dig, the older the bottles are.
