I went out to look at a new site along the tracks today and as I was walking out, I spied this insulator way down in the ditch. I had to go down a steep bank of loose ballast, and get through thistles and thorn trees to get it, but I think it was worth it. I could see the stump of the pole, but no other completes insulators, just pieces :-\ Anyway I got this one, it's a Hemingray 19 with the original wire still on it. Not as pretty as the one steelheadwill found recently, but it's the first one I've found in quite a while and I'm happy with it.

Didn't actually find the old foundation I was looking for, so I guess I'll be back out there another time.

I guess blues and reds are the ones to look for, so you did good. Hopefully the foundation will work out for you and you post
some nice finds...

Nice piece of Blue!
It can be really hard locating those foundations from the old maps.
Kinda like MDing, you miss by an inch, you might as well miss by a mile.
I've gone out three times looking for the little chimney puffing smoke far off the road on an 1870 'Birdseye' map, I found it today :hello2:
I had passed within 100 feet of it both other times..
Happy Hunting

Yeah finding them can be a real pain sometimes. I've gone back out there and I'm starting to think what I'm looking for has either eroded away, or been covered up by the modern track bed :( time to look for another landmark I think
