I found a large network of old stone walls in the woods in Eastern KS. I spent two hours there, and I think it's already been hunted out. I was briefly excited to find a quarter a couple inches down, but then I read the date....2003.
Prior to that, I pulled this monstrosity out of the ground. It's flexible, and sheathed in what appears to be aluminum. At first, I thought the flexible core was leather or rubber, but after it dried it appeared to be asbestos (see closeup of core).
What is it?
