Here is some "Hardware" from the Field that never fails

Here are some of the axes/ celts from the FTNF (Field That Never Fails)
Some have been in some losing battles with the plows i'm afraid. but they're all from the same 5 acre field.

thanks for the look.

Re: Here is some "Hardware" from the Field that never fails

Said it before and I'll say it again, I would buy that field. I would buy it and sift it down to sterile dirt, the entire five acres...just amazing.

That is a really nice bunch of hardstone! That field had to be a major site in its day. Keep em coming.

I agree. thats more axes than most people find in a life time, let alone one field.

those are just the ones that I have found. There are probably 25-30 more that have been found between my uncle, my grandfather and my little brother. All in the same field.

Thanks guys

No wonder I can't find any in my area, you've got them all.

Incredible! There's no telling how many artifacts are in that 5 acre field! Just like Cannonman said, if it were possible to sift through all the dirt in that field, could you imagine what would be found? Fields like that are few and far in between. I can't wait to see what you get out of that field this year!

Good luck!

Re: Here is some "Hardware" from the Field that never fails

Most Impressive!!!

Thats more axes than have ever been found in my whole STATE. Yes that is a VERY valuable piece of real estate. I am GREEN with envy!!! Dont think I would be able to leave that site....might just have to set up a trailer in the middle and dig day and night...lol

Those Indians were some chop chop chopping mother truckers! I've found a half of an axe in 14 YEARS and I hunt on hundreds of acres. I hope you take some time to start sifting, and maybe label when and where you found them with those little stickers that don't do damage to things, just for the sake of your children or whoever these get passed on to.

Good idea. Or do what the professionals do: take some white paint (or white-out typing correction fluid) and then use black ink to number each piece. Then do a spreadsheet with the details, referencing the numbers. It would sure make things more valuable and enjoyable for future generations. You know what they say on Antiques Roadshow: provenance adds to the value of everything. Take photos of the field, too. And take some photos of the items in situ. Great finds!!!

Re: Here is some "Hardware" from the Field that never fails

Thanks for the advice!

I keep telling myself that i'm going to label everything.. but i never do. BUT I WILL START!!!!!!!!!

That's unreal. A very fine collection of Stone Tools.

Is JohnnyX even a member here anymore? I haven't seen any posts from him in a very long time.
