No idea what it was originally, but now it is a piece of metal trash from Japan.

Seriously I have coffee cans full of treasurse like that. You might want to try posting it in the 'What is it' forum. The people that monitor that forum are pretty amazing, I have 3 different things that they id'd. I guess it could have been a bell looking at the bottom shot.

Anyways happy hunting, never know what you will dig up.
