Really neat looking digging tool. A sad story about your neck of the woods. I served a tour in Fort Knox, while in the military. Of course that is in Northern Ky. near Louisville. Fortunately in was not like that there. Do the best you can, and I hope some places open up for you.

Re: To The Mighty AP.....

A truly great piece of work AP! I wish you an abundance of fruitful digging Tim.
Man, if that isn't what it's all about then I don't know what is. Tim, you are, sad to say, all to right with respect to the lack of unselfishness, and compassion in general, people exhibit for each other in todays world. I'm not that old and yet I've seen this disheartening downward trend in social behavior continue to grow, particularly over the past 25 -30 years.

Happy Hunting
Johnny

One more thing real quick......

AP, just a word to let you know how much I truly appreciate the digger you sent to me here in Kentucky.

My wife and I recently relocated to this state and we have found it to be the practice that people here (and in general) will not give unconditionally and without expectation of profit, or something in it for them.

You are most certainly and without doubt the exception to this rule, this digger means a great deal to me. Not only as an effective and functional ground pounding tool, but it symbolizes the reality that good people with immeasurable character and generosity can still be found in a world where financial gain regulates the motivation of their intent.

I wish you the best of luck and we hope all your wishes and desires come to pass in the months and years ahead.

Thank you again for this symbol of benevolence; as this unselfish act of kindness, and regard for a fellow hobbists.

For many years to come, when friends see me using your digger, they will undoubtedly ask questions as to where I bought it. You can rest assured that I will tell them I bought it nowhere, and I will tell them all the details regarding how I came about this wonderful tool of the trade - and what it really represents.

Thank you for the gift,

Tim

A nice thank you box will be en route....hope you like it!

Mighty, I dig that mountain bike grip!!

Ya shouldn't have said you spit copenhagen in the handle, cause now if you send one to california you have to put your disclaimer about cancer causing agents in the manufacturing!

ROFL that's classic.

Once again AP good job. Sorry to slightly steal the thunder. I did not mean to take away from the great deed you did. That was a very awesome thing to do no matter where a person lives. I was just conveying to night stalker why my place of birth is how it is. And it seems he has a great grasp already.

Still that is pretty awesome AP.

Hey thanks Postal, not to worry at all! Ive never been to Kentucky & didnt know things are as they are there. I guess its like that most everywhere anymore, sad to say. I moved from Southern Cal to smalltown Idaho a year and a half ago & love it here! Everybody seems friendly, willing to help anybody in need.............its a real community here, the way it used to be, the way its supposed to be. The first day I moved in 3 different nieghbors came by to say "Hello", I lived in my last house in Long Beach for 5 years & never knew anybody (most didnt speak english)! We gotta look out fer each other in this crazy world, if you see someone hurting or needing & you can help them even in a small way, do it. Its the little things that count & make a big difference in someones life, you may never even know how your help or kindness has a lasting positive effect on someone. And you never know when you may be in need of a positive word or random act of kindness yourself. I have been on the receiving end many times by many people, sometimes I would scratch my head & wonder why would they care about me? Why would they take the time & effort to help me in any way? Just damn good people I guess, they will never know how their kindness has helped me, shaped me & will never be forgotten. Give a little kindness people, its the right thing to do & its kinda infectious. :)

One of these years someone is going post a pic that says LOOK WHAT I FOUND..AN ORIGINAL AP DIGGIN TOOL!!!
That is a seriously cool tool man.

Your absolutely right about if peps cared about each other we sure would be better off. And yes a small thing can make a huge difference.

I will try my best to help anyone I can. I do not have a lot of money or worldly goods, but I do have a good streak and will help all I can. Sometimes unfortunately its led to other problems. I have helped some only to find jealously from others. Of course they could ask and be helped too, but I bet we all have met those folks.

In my particular case my helping one neighbor has led to 9 straight calls over the last 2 years about fires I have in my yard to burn debris. Of course I have been cleared of all and my getting hand shakes and pat on back has infuriated that neighbor even more. But WHO CARES!!

I will still do all I can to help others. I do not wish for peps to get to bad of an idea of SE Kentucky there are still a great deal of great peps here. They are just tired and rightfully sceptical of all, so they have retired thier open friendliness a small amount. They would of course no longer stop on a highway to check out someone with a hood up...etc..for fear of something else happening. That is unless there are a few of them and feel they are ok if something happens.

Yes I would imagine this same thing happens in many places. I know crime rate in large cities statics wise can be high, you just don't expect it so much in a sleepy little county.

Anyways it is really awesome that you have a great neighborhood. I hope to find the one for me someday. Although I feel a bit safe here, except for items that might get left out in the yard, I still keep a very tight rein on my 6 year old daughter. As a young teen here it was a bit different. I used to at age 12 and up go out for the entire day in the mountains and explore away. No way I can allow that for my daughter, don't get me wrong a son wouldn't get the nod either.

Anyways this is all I will say and mention on this topic for now. For those of you that have a great community I envy you. For the most part my military communties were awesome and I miss having that type of place / community around. I did however have all of my wifes rings stolen in Hawaii on a military post. Was a great loss of many unreplaceable rings. But then again no place is completely safe. It's still good when bad things and theft are in no way the norm. Where they are very rarely heard of.

If you live in a place where I do I certainly hope your situation can change. Perhaps you are in a place where peps can pull together and make it a great place. At the moment its just not going to happen here. Too many years of foolishness is not allowing these communities to come together. Right now peps will just continue to watch their own stuff and keep thier noses clean so to say and keep thier eyes closed.\

Anyways since this is the last time I will pop on this post.

I still want to bring in the main focus. Great job AP. Its a great feeling to give and help others...especially a total stranger. I cannot wait to get a job and get things together. Then I can bring surprises to friends and perhaps strangers again. Because it sure is an awesome feeling, and one that no amount of foolishness can replace. But you do gotta admit the stealing, and its overall consequences to all is pretty troubling. I would say that I should be glad that it is only that. However we have had atleast 9 murders that I have heard of this year. That is way over any number I can remember. So I hope the tide is not turning worse.

Great piece of work, AP! And I am not just talking about the tool!
The world can be a mean and unforgiving place, but at least some peeps make it a better place to live!

Oh and nhbenz....it's so easy a CAVEMAN could do it!
LMAO!

Just when I was about to give up on my fellow man..........along comes AP. I have been wanting someone to weld a digging tool to my spec's. I don't even know AP,but I sent him a PM & ask him if he could do this for me. I told him I would pay him & guess what he said, he would do it for free & if they worked out ,if it would be ok to make some more. I don't know if it will work the way I intend for it too. I basicly want it to make the plug while still standing up & make it easier to get through the hard crust of the ground, then I'll sit down & dig with my hand tool & pinpointer. I guess I can use it as a walking stick since I'm gettin old. At the very least it will make a good weapon in those dark iffy places. Thanks AP I have a couple of gifts in mind for you also. Regards, Chuck P.S. Take a look at it in the test forum. I guess Fla. beach sand & hand fanning on the bottom of the ocean spoiled me. This mountain dirt is hard.

Hey TD, you are an old pro, you've done it all! You've had the privilege of knowing & diving with some of the biggest names in the business, you've written articles on treasure hunting that have helped so many people, your contributions to our hobby are enormous.........if I can put in a few hours doin' something i love to do anyway, to make something that might help to extend your detecting career even one season, then its more than worth the time I put into it! I just hope it works as well as we both want it to, eh? ;)
