Oh wait thats right it was a bolt!! LOL

After you left and the ten others I found a 925 chain broken in half and a belly ring. Went out to chest deep but it got pretty rough and came in after taking the third and final one over the head and getting knocked down, glad my scoop floats.

I don't see where the name of the beach has been mentioned in almost all of the posts. Every beach for the most part on the west coast is being hunted to death,
I don't think it matters one way or the other it will get hunted, & anyway at that point the find has already been made and gone, I would be trying one that wasn't mentioned...

And then of course does anyone really tell the truth when it comes to where you made your find, if they are smart they won't ...

Things the same up here too. Lots of waves, seagrass, and jellys and little to no targets.

Yep cotton....I agree with bill.......the west coast is a big area...besides in all the years I've been beach hunting, I've never seen a beach totally cleaned out.....The number of hunters seems to be like a sine wave, they increase and they decrease over the years.....I'm always ready to help out newbie's....I personally don't post my finds....but I thing it's good that many do....You can post finds with out a location, what does it hurt.....Besides you don't hit me as a person that is afraid of a little competition....Just my thoughts...rdi

No its not me.I like having other hunters around. What i am talking about i get people constantly emailing me an complain about how they cant find anything ,Or there are so many other hunters cutting them off, or other people looking on the forums looking for the rings they have lost.Well were do you think they are getting the information from .Besides most of the time the way i hunt i see no other hunters. Most hunters would not even think of hunting the way i do.So to me the more the marry. Good luck.

Cotton...sorry if I misunderstood you. The following is not directed at you but to help many that are experiencing the same thing.

As far as people e-mailing you that they can't find anything you could suggest to them to spend more time developing better techniques and less time complaining....this is my stock answer to pm's/e-mails...Most are just looking for a free honey hole location....As I have told many "competition hones your skills". You can also advise the complainers that its not the over abundance of mder's at the beach which is making finds difficult right now,but rather mother nature. All will be well as soon as the weather tears the hell out of the beaches and everybody is finding gold again. Sanded in conditions which cause long dry spells is just part of mding. If it was easy everyone would be doing it.

When it comes to someone trying to claim a piece of jewelry that has been posted, my suggestion is to do the same as most of us do when someone tries to claim a target in person at the beach. Ask them exactly where and when it was lost ,any marks or initials (which should be hidden in posted pics), do they have a receipt or proof of purchase, etc.

Cotton...believe me, from the little we have talked I know .....You hunt many areas that the average md'er would neither have the skill, patience or determination it takes to be successful......looking forward to hunting with you soon...your little fat buddy,....rdi

It comes down to A lot of luck ,Location, Knowing what your detector is telling you , technique . Running your coil over the golden Target That someone Missed by 1 inch... Thats what happen friday. Five hunters working the Dry sand had to of gone by the ring 2 or 3 times , but they weren't lucky enough to get the coil over the target. or maybe just not close enough. I took 2 steps and Bang . PURE LUCK Thats all... HH GUzz

Guzz...you're not lucky...you're just darn good.. :tongue3: :tard: ;D 8)...rdi

Your right on the money RDI, and guzz a couple of those guys were swinging their coils so fast and high I think they would pass over a soda can. I could never understand these guys? Seems like a big waste of time to me.

I like to hunt behind them In there lane just to see what they miss ;D ;D ;D ;D guzz

I met a woman hunter the day I found my gold necklace. she had an Excalibur2.
Watching her swing her coil like a baseball bat gave me the creeps.

While talking to her, I showed her the chain. I suggested to her that she keep the coil close to the ground. After a few more minutes of chewing the fat, we parted. I turned around and saw her swinging the coil like the pit and the pendulum. Oh well, I tried

Some folks just seem to resent suggestions or whatever.

I think that after spending as much as I did for my machine I would listen to anyone giving me free advice.

Montauk3..... all anyone can to is he try to help.....you can lead a horse to water... but you can't make it drink..........rdi
