Welcome to TreasureNet!

Our friend and moderator VPNAVY will ask you where you are hailing from. You can meet friends here by just telling us where you are geographically located. Friends really will help you get out more often and inspire you to continue.

The forums will give you a gazillion of ideas and knowledge of the AT Gold.

Keep the faith!

Welcome to the hobby.

YouTube videos on tips, hints and tricks are very helpful. (after reading your manual)

And for more information, TreasureNet Garrett forum.

All the best and happy hunting.

Go find a Soccer/baseball/field youth complex hopefully with grass/dirt parking area==carefully detect the parking area then along fields where parents/fans sit. I have a local area(4 fields) and have taken over 100 coins // lots of fun// Perry

There is a Sub section under Gold Prospecting for Metal Detecting in TNet. Looks like there is some good info there if you are looking to get into nugget hunting. A good way to just learn your machine is finding some local mulch or sand playgrounds, you'll find lots of coins, minimal trash and maybe some jewelry, but a quick way to get lots of targets without heavy digging and learn your detector.

Welcome to the sport! Most common mistake made with any and all detectors is "Learn the Machine" practice with targets both in ground and air tested. The machine is a great machine but does have draw backs in certain situations. Its not a "Beach machine" the AT Gold hates most if not all ocean beaches both wet and dry. The AT Gold is like its name sake, a "Gold" machine so it handles the transition metals (Gold, Lead, Copper) real well, but hates the earth metals (Alkali, Sodium, Potassium) this includes hating animal feces and urine. farm fields with heavy animal traffic IE Horses, Cows, Sheep ect. can cause havoc with the machine. Avoid locations with possible heavy livestock urine, and "yes" a cow pie will give a reading on the machine. The machines higher frequency is great at coin targets and old artifacts so its great at finding relics of all kinds. The machine can cherry pick heavy iron locations with a smaller coil and can do it with the stock coil if you take your time.
Learn to fast wiggle the coil over a target and you can pinpoint and locate close targets this way.
Anyway, Good Luck!
