Hi All......I'm a newbie from Clermont, Florida, which is just West of Orlando. I just bough a Garrett Ace 300 and excited to get started.

Just a little unsure of where I can and cannot go, and what permits I may need. I know I cannot go on private or federal property. I have a call into the parks department but haven't heard anything back yet. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Eddie

Welcome Aboard! Take a look at Forum:Florida for information (i.e., clubs, etc.) directly related to your state.

Welcome from North Carolina.

Hello and welcome, Orlando here. You can google city and county laws and rules for metal detecting. Example, Orange county requires a permit to detect parks, permit is free.

Good luck and have fun.

Welcome Eddie from Texas

I wouldn't recommend detecting on Federal property, in which most cases make it prohibited. To detect on private land you must consent the landowner for permission. To me it is not usual for local parks to prohibit detecting but it varies by State/territory. Hope that helps:)

Detecting Federal Land in Florida is a big NO NO. Even on beaches it is illegal and it is Federal law, not state and the Feds have no sense of humor either.
