Hi, I'm a 15 year old from Texas who loves treasure hunting! I got my first metal detector when I was 7, It was a bounty hunter JR.

I've decided to get back into metal detecting after a break! I'm getting a Garrett and joining this forum because I want to get serious but also have fun. 😁

I also need some help, I've been looking for a detector to get and can't decide between the Garrett 250 and 300. I really like the target ID numbers, what do you guys think? 🤔

Wish me luck!

Welcome Aboard! Take a look at FORUM: TEXAS for information (i.e., clubs, etc.) directly related to your state.

DP - Where do you want to hunt, and what do you look for? Different machines have different strengths and weaknesses.

Good luck to all,

The Old Bookaroo

Welcome from Iowa.

I will mainly be detecting in parks and forest area, maybe in some gravel or sand. The ground here is pretty good and I'm not looking for anything too deep. What would be best?

DP - I'm not an authority on different detectors. However, the more information you are willing to share about what you're looking for, and where you plan to hunt, the better the responses will be. You're off to a good start.

Good luck to all,

The Old Bookaroo

Welcome young man. I started out on playgrounds and parks. Bought a cheap rock tumbler to clean the modern coins I dug, and used that money to upgrade and buying detecting equipment.
You will be amazed at how quickly it adds up.
I still have the Tesoro uMax that I started with. Great easy to use machine.
Good luck to you.

Welcome from Kona Hawaii. If you have the funds, get that Minelab 600. It’s amazing.

I will mainly be searching for coins and jewelry. I want a good all-terrain detector that's in a reasonable price range. Have any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum and good hunting !

You could also check out the Nokta Simplex - it seems to be an excellent machine for the money.

Welcome !

Welcome. The Aces are good detectors, but you can get a waterproof Minelqb X-terra Pro or Nokta simplex for around the same price. I’m a dealer in Texas if you have some questions.
