Hey All,

Paco and I made it out for a quick 2hr hunt in the rain tonight. We went back to an old farm he got permission for a while ago and noticed some of the fields were down. The first two fields we thought would produce were really quiet ... walking back to the truck I said let's just hit this little grass area right next to the old barn/stream .... well it paid off
he found a 2 cent piece and I got a nice signal about 5 inches down and pulled this coin ... first thought it was a big button as it was thin, rubbed it a little and saw the harp, we were able to see the 1787 and then the "bernia" at the top of the coin (I'll let the experts here tell me exactly what I have)

The front looks like it had some good detail at one point but the years in the ground took it's toll.

Not bad for a quick hunt!

take care and thanks for looking,

vp

That's a nice one!

good candidate for some peroxide, it will take care of the caked on dirt

1781, and sort of has a counterfeit look to it, especially the front.

Very nice, neighbor! No doubt that sure made the two hours in the rain worth the effort. :icon_thumright:

Well done VP. Way to be persistent. :occasion14:

Sweet oldie...looks like it has some great detail too.. Congrats

Nice find. I just love finding old coppers. Finding something like this is great because it really gives you a sense of what was circulating at the time.

Good copper.
I like them too, they come in quite a wide variety around here for sure.
