Looks similar to an Irish halfpenny of George III, c. 1766-69; however, yours appears to read GEORGIUS rather than GEORGIVS.

Hmm... well, how about this. Coin size:

My coin is just over 1inch (like 1 and 1/16th) in size (sorry, don't have calipers near by... just held it up to a ruler).

I believe there is a rare c. 1774 Irish halfpenny pattern coin of that size with the "U" instead of the "V." You might be able to find a photo via Google Image search.

Wow PBK! Your incredible! Thanks for the fast info. Makes me sad that it is in such horrible condition.

I did a quick search and didn't come up with much. Do you think perhaps it might not be a rare one, rather, just a different coin?

Either way you look at it... it seems as if it's probably a coin from the 1700's... i'm pretty psyched about that in itself!

In the immortal words of Homer Simpson:

DOH!

Think the coin is worth ANYTHING? Do you have an estimate if it were in G condition? I know mine is somewhere below poor (lol).

No guess! :D Try eBay on George III Irish halfpennies.
