Detector(s) used
Bounty Hunter Pioneer 505, Teknetics Gamma 6000, DetectorPro PiratePro, Fisher F-75 LTD2, Berkut-5 (a russian detector) and a good ole original Garrett Propointer that is still going strong.
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
Took my 505 out to White hall city park today and just had lots of fun. Well, maybe not fun for "normal" people, but I have never been accused of that. ::) Spent almost 8 hours there. Just lost track of time, zoned into what the detector was telling me through the headphones. Killed the batteries and had to run to the dollar store to get some more. Found lots of clad and one silver heart shaped pendant that still had a small part of the chain in it when I dug it up. It has 11 diamonds in it. (they probably are not real) I really like this detector and I feel that it is a capable machine. I am becoming quite comfortable with it and am having a high degree of success determining what a target is before I dig it. The majority of the finds were with the standard 8 inch coil. I switched to the 4 inch sharpshooter coil when I went for batteries. I like to hunt with this coil in all metal mode and switch to discrimination all metal when I get a good hit. I found 3 of the quarters, several dimes and the silver pendant this way. Although I didn't get any nickels, I dug many pulltabs so I know that that I did not miss them. It seems strange to me that I don't find as much of them as I do other coins. Last week at my sis in law's house I found 3 so I know where they ring up. But there weren't any today. Anyway, thanks for looking and Happy Hunting to all.

gold -nickles and some types of pulltabs are very close as far as electical conductivity goes (which is how a detector sorts out what metals it "thinks" its found ) --so to get the gold gotta dig those tabs too --if you hitting nickles and tabs if you get over gold it will ring up . just a matter of time and place.

Thanks Ivan. I have seen you around and know that you know what you are talking about. The one gold ring I have found rang up as a pt/5 on my 505 so I dig all those. The silver rang up as a penny and I was surprised when I dug it, but now I know how a small silver item presents itself. Anyway, thanks for responding and take care.
