Hit the same ole spot and had fun BUT

I decided to stay close to home today, so I said ahhh what the heck go to the bar again, its closed, and has been a special spot to me to which I have never told anyone where it was located at.. but, if you drive by it..chances are you will see me there..anyways, I pulled into my parking spot and said what the He$$? what did I see, a zillion holes dug... yea thats right dug and NOT FILLED IN, needless to say, someones been here but one thing I cant stand is a jerk who doesn't fill in their g. d. holes.. so here I am filling em all in.. so help me god, if I see this person, I will get right in their face big time..

I did have a good time afterwards, found several coins, regular clad but hey I consider it all a learning experience and what the heck, I had fun... I just felt that my spot was kinda violated by some jerk with a detector who has NO MANNERS or RESPECT for someones property..
You can bet I will be watching n looking for this jerk.

Most the time that type of person does not check his hole good. they are to lazy. I would go back over his diggings and see what you find.

I think I would have sat there for a couple days to see if they came back....RRRrrrrrr, There is an old park I can no longer hunt for the same reason...some Jack. A#$ digging holes with a large spade shovel yet and not filling them...The park staff said they spent 6 hours fixing them...I told them they should have called the cops....good luck on your next trip...H.H. funniest part is this..as of today, my total of coins found there alone for the last year was a lil over 1,000 coins.. of course, I found lots of pennies..but heck, it all adds up.. and its not easy digging there, its layers and layers of small rocks in the parking lot..still no excuse to leave a hole..

I agree 100% even in the Field I leave no holes.. Hey I just realised your a jersey girl....I was in Hunterdon County detecting last week..are you close? oh yea and 1000 coins from one spot....wow...TnT

Tnt I have no clue where that is... I am in atlantic county.. right outside of Somers Point and a 10 min drive to 9th st. in ocean city...

I am no ways finished with this bar, every time it rains more comes up... but I will keep an eye out for the jerk not filling the holes...weird, this was the first time I have ever seen evidence of anyone hunting there but me..they had to of seen me from the main road.. but its ok..long as I can still do it there am happy.. and will fill in their holes but I have a feeling they wont be back.. like I mentioned, its super hard to dig it there.. psst, thats where I found the mens sterling tiffany chain necklace in mint condition.. I about had heart failure.. came home cleaned that baby up real nice I was so thrilled on that one.. but I have also plan b. whole thing boils down to NO respect for someones property.. thats what fries my butt..

I know what you mean, we get plenty of those type over here. I know of a couple nearby & they rob houses too, so little holes here & there is the least of their worries. However, in my simple mind, if I were detecting at night without permission I would want to leave NO traces of my ever being there! Stupid thing is they don't think to ask. I've often thought about snipering them from a tree, whilst they are stealing mine & the farmers finds.

Hey, I'm new and even I know to fill in my holes. I can't stand that lack of respect. Not to mention the part that REALLY hacks me off about this story...the idea that he drove by and saw you detecting and decided not to find his/her own place, but to use your research/idea and MD your spot. Anyway, just thought the newby would chime in...

dummies like that will ruin it for everyone. aside from filling in the holes I dig, I also haul out the trash.
that way folks dont get too annoyed that you're there in the first place. I've had police sit and watch me for hours, but never say a word.

I typically don't detect spots that are open to others, so I haven't come across this problem, but let me tell you a little story...
Many of you will recall the success I had last year (and I continue there) at the "silver farm." Over 100 silver coins and 425 wheaties so far in less than a year, and I'm the only one with access. One morning last June, on a return visit to the farm, I noticed that many of my holes from the previous day were open! Obviously, I didn't leave them that way, and I can only conclude that the varmints that live there found easy digging in their nocturnal search for grubs. Nobody told those creatures that they were supposed to fill my holes back in! I weigh in excess of 250 lbs, with a size 14 shoe, so my holes get packed pretty tightly when I'm done. I don't doubt the stories I've heard about careless hunters not filling holes, but there can be other explanations for what you're finding.
