Lane, who is the borough tax receiver and owns a real estate business, installed the hitching post about 10 years ago, though not without some resistance from the borough when he made the request.
When Lane woke up Wednesday morning, he found four hobby horses hitched outside his home at 120 E. Centre St.
“When I walked out front and saw those four hobby horses hitched to my hitching post, I just completely burst out laughing,” said Lane.
Lane immediately went inside to get his wife, Diane, to see the sight.
“At least it started our day off with a chuckle,” said Diane Lane, laughing.
