Holed coins

Looking for opinions.....How much is a coin devalued, if it has a small hole?
I bought a 1830 bust half in VG condition at a coin show yesterday. Red book values it @ $80 NOT HOLED. I paid $10 with the hole. Scrap is almost $5. I think I got a good deal....HH Gayle

There is no set amount it devalues it, but it would be a lot. If you bought from a dealer at a show you probably paid what it is worth . It is still a good way to get a piece of history at a cheap price.

I have a large collection of holed coins from half cents to half dollars... early 1800's to early 1900's.

I prefer to collect them as they allow me to collect coins I otherwise could never have afforded.
