Made it out Sunday am to an old section of the city woods with a Steve In PA and MetalHeadz. Louis continues to have great intuition when selecting sites. Here are my weekend results.

I believe this is a Matron Largie center-holed. The “D” and “E” from the reverse are about all that’s left on this smoothie. One nice Fattie Indian and the 1875 small cent had me thinking 1877 for a few anxious moment.

Handful of relics.

The piece in the upper right was posted before on Tnet, bird whistle.

Harmonica cover.

And finally a tiny silver button hole pin popped out of an old farm site 1850-1950. The back is fixed.

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Nice bunch of finds! I need that intuition! That holed large cent is really cool! The way the hole is it was prob used to fix something. Nice IHP's too!

I’ve read that some people hammered a large cent above their doorway for good luck. Thx!

Nice assortment Thad and thanks again for the invite. What is the octagonal thing in the lower left of your handful.
BTW, I only have two center holed large coppers. If you are gonna dig a center holed copper, consider yourself lucky if it's a smooth large cent.
Mine were Vermont and New Jersey state coppers :BangHead:

Thx Steve! I’m glad I was able to at least ID the Largie as a Matron, #7 FTY. The octagon thingy is an ornate compact lid. Thx

Killer coin, jewelry and relic hunt! :occasion14:

Nice finds as usual.

I think that's 7 more coppers than I got this year.

Looks like you guys are finding some quality sites.

Jer

Thx Jer! It’s been a weird start to the year. I’m finding a lot of old coins, just not silvers. So far along with the 7 LC’s, 31 wheats, 15 IHPs, 7 vintage tokens and only 4 silver coins. At least I’ve only popped 6 clad coins so far this year. My least favorite target...

Great hunt love the matron and that whistle good job next time youll get that key date Indian you stay safe as well. Tommy

Wow I found the base of one of those bird whistles last year and always assumed it was from a hollow cast lead figure. Glad I didn’t throw it out. Thanks for posting

I'm impressed that you pulled a LC and older Indian from the slope/tracks area. I knew there had to be a few targets I missed since my first day there. Nice relic finds like usual 👍

pa-dirt I don’t think we have LCs down here in the south I’m sorry that is my white whale of copper
