Hey hey diggers!
It's been a tough one out there lately, the old places are real quiet and the new ones have been dismal.
Kicking some dirt and making some holes but not coming home with the goods lately but even the leftovers are pretty tasty in the end.
I went back to some old favourite fields to find that we were pretty good at finding most of the stuff back in the day...usually finding just one thing to say " there, I got another keeper" was a win if you want to call it that lol.
A coin here or a button there or even a cool little nitnoid to add to the case was about all you could accomplish.
Struck out hard at a couple of 'new' sites..trash or they were well cherry picked in the past.
Keeping old themes alive with the religious medal and some large cents and keeping my silver streak alive with a fish scale. And being the last guy there too sadly lol.

Relics etc included the medal , a nice little ramrod thimble possibly from a pistol, a wee fancy button, my other button with script 'IU' ( jury still out) and chunk of nice old roller chain...I found a small piece at this site before and now a bigger piece..likely a watch chain.

Coins were a bunch of the likely contenders...some large cents and tokens , most were toast but saved a couple of the nicer ones.
My favourite of the bunch was a 1810 2 skilling courant from Norway !
I've found these before but this was nice...but holed. A found a nice little silver 5 cents too...but holed.
One of the nicer tokens...that's right.. holed. Even my crusty pile had a couple..
It sure was not a good week to be coin with a nail through it!

Until next time...keep the hammer on the tool bench and the shovel in the ground !

great saves, perseverence pays off. thanks for posting

I like those finds! Scarcer therefore more valuable to the finder, I have found. I get as much enjoyment now from 1 or 2 good finds on a site as I once did with 10 or more.

Congratulations on the great finds! Thanks for sharing.

You did real well . Thank you very much for sharing with us.=!!!

Good stuff. I’d definitely try to track the leg band info. Should be interesting to know the story.👍🏼

Not too shabby for picked over sites.

What's the barrel looking item?

Getting early 1800s coppers is satisfying enough to scratch the itch.

I used to really enjoy the ' dig all day' sites...now they're the 'dig so little' sites...but at least you are digging.
Good ole coppers are what I live for!
Barrel ...that's the ramrod thimble.

I have a whole pile of those. Many different sizes too!
That could be a winter project to get the story from each one I have and put a post together about them. Something I'll definitely consider doing.
I had a bunch more years ago...i think they got sold and i remember getting a few bucks in my pocket without the back story..oh well
