I'm hoping someone can help me correctly identify, or give any guidance of who I can contact, regarding this piece. There is little information online and it has only been speculated in a 1990s article that one could possibly exist. I found a brass double hands dish while thrifting. This is what I know so far-
The underside is stamped with "Patented Aug 31 1875" with serial # "298609" across the wrist area. The Holyrood mark can be seen under the thumb area (to the right when looking at the underside). It has a complete ring for the base. It measures appr 6 in. In length and 4 1/2 in. In width. I have included pictures of the dish.
I have done some research. Including a 1993 article titled "Chronicles of the Double Hands Dish" from Frank Chiarenza. Being that this piece was designed as a glass mold, but some brass hands do exist. However, I've only been able to find glass examples and only in the bigger size. Furthermore is the curiosity of the base. Holyrood used a half circle while NEGC used the full circle. It has been noted that these two companies had access the same factory at the time. NEGC placed their mark inside the circle base, from what I have seen. My trouble is that I cannot find another piece mentioned that has all the boxes checked from the one I have. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
