Been getting back into detecting after a 30 year absence, and once dropping some cash for a AT Max, I started looking at other accessories. Was kind of taken back with sticker shock at the price of some diggers and just even a plain root shovel, so I figured I would just make me one. Had a few wore out vintage disk blades, so I cut one down to size, built me a wood fire on the ground, and idled my leaf blower to make a forge. Used a piece of 10" round stock as an anvil, and low and behold it worked. Spruced it up with a vintage metal handle and she was ready to go dig. Took it out this evening for its maiden dig, and the first hole was a #15 petal bell which was the first bell I've ever dug. So needless to say I was stoked. Must say it works great! In moist soil I have to be easy or it will sock in to the hilt. It was time well spent in my opinion. Happy detecting!
