Homemade MXT volume control (kinda)

I made this setup from abt $15 worth of radioshack parts, it works but I"m going to put a better speaker on it, and since I'm no electronics expert the pot only operates thru about 50% of the turn but I can get full range of volume ,no drilling just plugs into the hp jack with a adapter.
