PVC is great. It's tough, you can work it easily with tools, and it won't scratch those valuable coins. I made a hand scoop from PVC and it works great. Gary

while I salute your ingenuity, dont try to use that in the water or even wet sand. I'd be very cautious using it in dry sand even. There is a reason beach guys use scoops made from stainless and HD aluminum. Even many of those fail much earlier that expected.
