I don't know what a coin from Hong Kong is doing in a Michigan Park...but here it is anyways.

I noticed that on this coin from 1982 when Hong Kong was a British Crown Colony the obverse reads Queen Elizabeth the Second. On other coins the writing is most often Dei Gratia (or D.G.) Regina, Elizabeth the second. Is this because China is a Communistic government that is officially Atheistic so Die Gratia, which is Latin for By the grace of God, does not appear on this coin?

Just a thought

Sweet coin Rob, did you find that in Muskegon? I'll have to get up that way; I've got a spot over there that you may not have hit. I'll PM ya when I'm planning to be up there next time.

Interesting find. I was just curious to know how that compares in size to American coins.

Hi MB.

Nice coin.

I shall never forget the old days when I detected all over Muskegon.

Some of the hottest sites are now under parking lots.

Nice find...
Not bad it was worth about .75 cent back then, a better find was a $5 hk bcc coin it was worth about $1.88
Love hunting the beaches in HK lot of gold and silver. I never left the beach without a piece of jewelry, the 2 and 5 dollar coins added up fast.
