This looks very familiar, but I have one in my collection that depicts Franklin Pierce with a blurb on the back of the 'token' describing his Presidency/political beliefs. Probably a part of a presidential token set.

It looks like you do NOT have an official inaugural medal/coin... they only made one for Hoover... and your's is different.

I found this cool site though that shows all the presidential inaugural coins and thought I'd pass it along... might come in handy someday!

i used to have a few coins like that when i was younger (22 now) that had the presidents bust and a short passage on the reverse side, it looks like it is one of those.

As I recall, in the early 1990's Shell gas stations had tokens similar to yours for sale at the pumps (or maybe they were given away as a part of a game--I don't exactly remember). Although these were slightly different from yours in terms of the size of the lettering, etc., the basic layout of the tokens were the same (president's bust on the front, quote or other information about each president appearing on the back). I don't know when these tokens started appearing, but I'd wager a guess that your token is much newer than the 40's. Hope this helps.
