Had someone ask if I wanted a free box of some old paper items. And of course I said yes because they're free and always interesting to look through. In the box were these posters, all copyright dated 1929 from Roach-Fowler a Kansas City publisher (makes sense because I'm 1 hour from KC). From what I was able to find there were 40 of them in series, I'm missing 3 of them. They came in several sizes, these being 9x6. I read somewhere about possible reproductions, but hadn't been able to actually find a reproduction. So my question is are they the real deal from 1929? Can anyone else provide any more information about them. I couldn't find much out there about them. Thanks for any help.

I also wanted to add a picture of this newspaper that was in the box. It has 2 holes (I would think bullet holes) in it and at the top is written "The paper that saved the life of Samuel D Chapman in 1880". How cool is that to have a newspaper that saved someones life.

For 87 years old, there's no hint of yellowing. I see some slightly bent corners, and one small flaw, but they almost look like brand new.

one or 2 have small corner rips, but the rest are really nice. they were wrapped up in the larger folded sheet top left.

Did you try and figure out who Samuel D. Chapman was? Or am I just forgetting a big time historical figure and event?

the guy was a family member of who I got the box from i think . it's the same last name that was on a lot of the family pictures that were up for auction earlier this year that the family didn't want.

I would have to check through the old pictures to see if he's in there and a location, but I think it should be Iowa, Missouri, or new York for where he's from.

Those look like the real deal to me, especially with the insert showing all the posters in the set and the quality of the printing. Awesome find and they should do well if you decide to sell them.

would it be better to sell as a group or individually?

That looks like a good find. They're like mint condition looking. Hope they pan out as a real historic treasure find.

I would say individually if you don't mind listing that many items. I would auction them all to end on the same night a minute apart and hopefully get a few people who have to have a number of them.
If two people fight over them it should be a nice profit for you. Looks like you have the play fair one with the football scene which is a nice looking poster.
