OMG, it isn't quartz:laughing7: Took a long ride to a field on Sunday. Not huge, took about 2 hours to crisscross the whole field.
With nothing to show for the hunt, 15 minutes from the end, guy walks up, asks what I'm doing and "what kind of rocks do you look for?" I tell him "quartz" and point to a flake. He walks away and stops where I will be passing in just about 5 more minutes. Then I notice he's hurrying back. With a nice quartz triangle, part crystalline. "yep, that's what you look for" I tell him. He gets in his car and leaves after looking for all of 10 minutes. Oh well, maybe I should stop being so darn helpful just once?! Lol.....

So yesterday I checked a small field close to home. And 15 minutes from the end, found a hornfels triangle. Hornfels is a metavolcanic like rhyolite and felsite. For once, at least lately, a triangle other then quartz. Not perfect, but better then getting skunked in the fashion I did Sunday:laughing7: Also photo of site frame with latest point on right.....

Lol, yeah, some of our frames are just to put things from same site together, Dennis, and not for display per se. You should see how stuffed some of our rikers are. We do have a second fame from this site. Anyway, we just keep em together by frame; don't care how crowded they get.

Cool triangle! :icon_thumright:
It is always nice to find a point out of a different material. It kind of keeps you on your toes when you are out hunting. It helps to keep an eye out for other colors and materials. I have to keep reminding myself to look for those reds. I sometimes have a little problem seeing them.

Yay! Hornfels triangle! Way to go- and good of you to be helpful like that. You know you did the right thing:cool: Yakker

That's what you get for being a nice guy:laughing7:looks like good Karma came back around to you.Nice one,You sure have found allot of triangles

Right you are. With so much quartz littering sites here, it's easy to lose focus for other materials.....

Lol, yeah, you guys are right. He was a non-collector and got a thrill finding an arrowhead I'm sure!
When I got to the field, there was a guy from Boston walking it with his dog. Believe me, Boston is one heck of a haul from this field. He found a small quartz point and seemed relieved not to get skunked. I was glad for him, having driven so very far.....
