Horse Pin, silver plated?

Hello all,
Didn't get much over the weekend. Quite a bit of clad, A 1910 Wheatie, wich I scatched with my nife? , and this little Horse Pin. I think it's silver plated. Does anyone know of a way to tell if it is silver or not, and would it still be worth anything, being broken?....the leg fell off when I picked it up?
I dug this at about 3" down, and it jump out of the plug like it wanted to go home with me?
It had a copper coloerd coating on it wich wiped right off of the front, you can still see the coating on the back, it hasn't been cleaned yet...

Being new to the hobby, I have a lot to learn about determining what something is made of.
I've never really owned any silver or gold, so I don't have much to go by.
